Accountability
Clearly Northants County Council have direct responsibility for any changes to traffic management in Gayton. David Coppock however will liaise as necessary with appropriate bodies to drive the action plan forward as fast as is reasonably possible.

Programme

  • Relocation of 30 mph signs to create a speed restricted area enclosing all roads with domestic residences within Gayton Parish.
  • 'Through traffic' sign to be erected at Fiveways directing traffic along Back Lane and new road markings giving priority to traffic passing along Milton Road and Blisworth Road over traffic coming from Baker Street. The latter serving to support existing signing for through traffic.
  • Establish a 20 mph zone in the centre of Gayton by restricting traffic speed to 20 mph along Baker Street, High Street and Deans Row.
  • Establish 20 mph zone outside the school and/or install automated flashing lights outside the school.
  • Speed limits to be painted on road surfaces.
  • Install ‘Countdown’ signs (similar to motorway sliproad) indicating 30 mph limit ahead.
  • Install Flashing ‘reminder’ signs linked to automatic speed camera along Back Lane and Bugbrooke Road.
  • Speed limits marked on road surfaces in ‘key’ locations e.g. Back Lane.
  • Regular use of temporary ‘Slow Down’ and ‘Watch your Speed’ signs.
  • 'Welcome to Gayton Please Drive Slowly' signs on all roads entering Gayton. Temporary parking ‘advice’ signs to encourage more considerate parking of vehicles. Reinforce by articles in ‘Gayton News’.
