Return to Walks

The walk starts from Fiveways and is a gentle flat walk over 2.4 miles, nearly half of it on roads, the remainder on firm, dry footpaths.

Set off down Back Lane and turn right on to the Blisworth Road for about 400 yards where, just past the bungalow next to Cockerill’s Garage, take the footpath on the right before, not after, the cottages. The footpath marker pole leans severely and the indicator plaque is missing. An easy well-defined path takes you along and across fields for about 0.7 mile, crossing Tiffield Road and on to Eastcote Road.

There turn left and after 300 yards take the marked path on the right side of the road (almost opposite ‘The Old Wilds’). This wide track takes you down to barns round the back of which you can clamber over a fence and follow the marked path either going over a stile or ignoring it and going through the gate at the end of the field and so up to the lane which leads from Goggs Farm to Eastcote Road. Using the indicated footpath parallel to this lane is not recommended as the stile where the path meets Eastcote Road is heavily overgrown. From there you have a straight walk back to Fiveways via Hillcrest Road and past the Village Hall. In all it will be just under an hour of steady walking. From the paths of the latter part of the walk there will be extensive views across the countryside towards Bugbrooke.
